Beer Village
Beer is an unspoilt and beautiful South Devon village on the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. It has a strong history of lace making, smuggling and fishing, and the latter is still very much at the heart of village life today. Local boats bring their catches in daily, which are sold from the slipway. In the summer the 'Beer Luggers' are put through their paces when raced at Beer Regatta.
In the high street there are many shops and galleries to explore, giving Beer a great atmosphere both day and night. Beer also offers several great options for eating out and within a couple of minutes walk from Bosun’s Rest you can discover all three village pubs, as well as several cafes and restaurants.
There are a variety of interesting things to do in Beer, with something that should suit everyone. At the top of the village is Pecorama, Beer’s miniature railway and gardens theme park.
On the road towards Branscombe you will find the famous Beer Quarry Caves - suppliers of stone used to build St Paul’s, Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle.
The walk to the beach is literally seconds. Thhere you will find a picturesque stony beach is surrounded by steep cliffs making it a natural sun trap in the summer, whereas all year round walks along the coast in either direction offer stunning views over the beach and of the south Devon coastline. In the summer months there are three beach cafés serving breakfasts, sandwiches and ice creams. The sea is very often flat, making swimming and paddle boarding very appealing.
Also there is the Fine Foundation Heritage Centre where you can pop in to see what the tide might have washed in this week.
Alternatively, just grab a drink and relax on our balcony, watching the comings and goings to and from the beach, pub and village.
